Dudephrine

"Long thought to be the outcome of generally poor communication skills, the ability of mid-twenties Colorado males to converse solely using the word "dude" has been linked to a recently discovered neuroprotein (dudephrine). Dudephrine is thought to be formed under conditions of low oxygen, daily consumption of micro-brewed beer and intense uv radiation; all of which are found at near constant levels in the state of Colorado. The purpose of this study is to determine whether the formation of dudephrine is unique to Colorado males. After extraction by differential centrifugation and verification by western blot, dudephrine concentrations in 5 gram samples of brain tissue from twenty Colorado males were compared with 5 gram brain tissue samples from twenty age-matched Utah males. The concentration of dudephrine found in Colorado males was significantly higher than the levels found in Utah males; 8.7% (w/w) versus 3.5% (w/w), respectively. The geographic areas from which the samples were taken were similar with respect to oxygen concentration and uv radiation levels, but the Utah males ingested far less beer than the Colorado males. These findings suggest that the rate-limiting step in the formation of dudephrine is the ingestion of large amounts of micro-brewed beer, and not necessarily the state of residency of the individual."Insights into dudephrine formation in Colorado and Utah males
